The Daihatsu Charade Hatchback is well-priced and provides both the driver and passenger with a comfortable ride.
A quality interior finish and reasonable equipment are definite plus points, according to reviewer Parkers.
However, while the interior could be more attractive and some of the features - such as hidden electric mirror controls - are awkward to use, space throughout the car is decent, even for taller passengers, the reviewer states.
Wide doors and good visibility are bonuses and the model has a decent level of equipment, boasting passenger airbag, front electric windows, a CD player and antilock braking system. The higher spec SL model adds alloy wheels, side airbags and air conditioning.
At speed, the noise created by the engine and the wind can become problematic and bodyroll during cornering can be an issue.
Suspension, on the other hand, is good, with the model easily soaking up bumps.
The 1.0-litre engine copes well with town-driving but struggles with motorway speeds, according to Parkers.
Daihatsu's Charade Hatchback is available from £5,960 in motor insurance group three.
